• A vehicle driven by Andrew P. Lapointe, 18, of Swain Road, Rumford, failed to negotiate a curve near Twin Rivers Building Supply on Route 2 at 11:58 p.m. on April 15. Lapointe’s 1999 Ford sedan struck a telephone pole, then came to rest between the pole and a tree. The vehicle sustained $3,500 damage. Lapointe was taken by Med-Care Ambulance Service to Rumford Hospital. Dixfield police Chief Richard Pickett said the case is under investigation.
• A 17-year-old Dixfield boy was summoned on a charge of assault on a 22-year-old man that occurred at 5:12 p.m. on April 11 at a Third Street apartment. He is scheduled to appear in 11th District Court, Northern Oxford Division, on June 12.
• A loaded SAD 21 school bus and a 1994 Ford pickup truck narrowly escaped collision at 2:40 p.m. on April 4 on state Route 142. Pickett said a 17-year-old Carthage boy was cited for driving to endanger. He said the juvenile was driving at a high rate of speed behind the school bus on snowy and slushy road conditions. The bus driver slowed down as the pickup truck attempted to pass. The bus driver was able to stop the bus as the pickup then slid in front of it. The pickup then came to rest on the side of the road. He said at least four other juveniles were in the pickup. Pickett said the juvenile is scheduled to appear in 11th District Court, Northern Oxford Division, on June 6.
