PORTLAND (AP) — Maine police have arrested a man they say was selling crack cocaine from a home right next door to an elementary school.
The Maine Drug Enforcement Agency arrested 49-year-old Ronald Gulikson late Wednesday and charged him with two counts of trafficking in scheduled drugs.
A raid on the Ocean Avenue house next to Ocean Avenue Elementary School turned up evidence including digital scales, cutting agents and packaging materials. Officials said undercover agents twice bought drugs from Gulikson at the home.
Police said they accelerated the investigation because of the potential danger to schoolchildren, many of whom walk right past the house every day on the way to class.
Gulikson is being held at the Cumberland County Jail on $5,000 bail. It’s unclear if he has a lawyer.
