Police seize marijuana

JAY – Law enforcers seized marijuana plants and drug paraphernalia Tuesday from a Jay residence, police said Tuesday.

Jay police and Maine drug agents executed a search warrant at the residence, police Chief Larry White Sr. said.

A 25-year-old man that police didn’t immediately identify was charged with misdemeanor cultivating marijuana, a class D crime, White said.

The eight marijuana plants seized were valued at $1,000 each at maturity.

Jay Police Department and the Maine Drug Enforcement Agency developed drug information over the past week, leading to Tuesday’s raid, White said.

White, Detective Roderick Small and Sgt. Charles Keene along with three Maine drug agents executed the search warrant.

White said no further information would be released Tuesday.
