Poor programs and poor leadership

Since when has Maine been both the second-poorest state in the nation and the most heavily taxed? Gov. Baldacci never furnished that information, I had to rely on the national media. However, although surprised, I was not completely shocked to read these facts. I can easily point to a part of the problem: Dirigo Health.

Gov. Baldacci’s brainchild, this program has squandered every penny paid in without providing any benefit to the state. In spite of this, Baldacci continues to maintain that we have a healthy surplus. Since when has federal dole been a surplus?

Maine relies on federal funding because we have poor programs and poor leadership. If the government were efficient and effective, there wouldn’t be the spending issue.

Maine does not deserve to be dependent on the federal government. Maine deserves better.
