PORTLAND (AP) — Testimony is drawing to a close in the trial of a New York City man accused killing his girlfriend and leaving her body in an SUV in a motel parking lot in Maine.

Closing arguments are expected Wednesday in the case of Anthony Pratt Jr. in Superior Court in Portland.

Prosecutors say he shot 29-year-old Margarita Fisenko Scott of Westbrook inside a Portland apartment in November 2012. Her body wasn’t found until January 2013.

The defense contends DNA evidence points to someone other than the 21-year-old defendant. Pratt’s DNA was found on chewing gum used to plug a bullet hole in the victim’s apartment but not on the murder weapon. DNA evidence also indicated someone else had sex with the victim before she died.
