Prescription drugs stolen in Sunday night burglary of Livermore Falls pharmacy

LIVERMORE FALLS – Police and drug agents are investigating the theft of prescription drugs from Rite Aid on Main Street, Livermore Falls police Chief Ernest Steward Jr. said Monday.

It is the third time this store has been broken into and had drugs stolen since August of 2004. In that case more than 5,000 prescription drugs were stolen, and in January 2009, more than 5,000 prescription drugs were also stolen.

Police, drug agents and the company’s loss prevention service is working on the case to try and determine how many narcotic drugs were stolen Sunday evening, Steward said.

Both Livermore Falls and Jay police responded to a burglar alarm at 10:48 p.m. Sunday.

A manager of the store came with a key and the store was checked out and the manager saw nothing out of place, Steward said.

When a pharmacist arrived Monday morning, he noticed his pharmacy had been broken into, he said.

He reported burglary at 8:09 a.m. Monday, police said.
