Spring has sprung; the birds are singing and the grass is already growing. Hopefully we will have a warm spring and summer for all to enjoy.
The Chamber would like to thank all who attended the Maine Hysterical Society Comedy Show; it was a great night full of laughter and fun and definitely a great “Cabin Fever Reliever.” We definitely have it in our plans to bring them back another time. Laughter is always good for the soul.
The Annual Dinner Meeting and Awards Banquet will be held on April 24 at Black Mountain. We will be honoring our award recipients that evening and encourage all to come on out and support the businesses, volunteers and organizations in our area who are receiving these prestigious awards. Community pride is infectious and we want the River Valley to be at the top.
With tourist season about to begin, the Rumford Information Center has reopened for the season as of April 5. We have a great bunch of volunteers on hand to assist the tourists stopping in. The hours of operation for the month of April and May are 10 a.m.-2 p.m. and will change starting Memorial weekend to 9 a.m.-5 p.m. to officially kick off the tourist season.
The new Four Season Guide Book that the Chamber puts out annually will be debuting and every tourist who walks into the Information Center will walk out with one of these books. Featured inside the guide book is a wealth of information about our River Valley area; points of interest, a blurb about each of our 10 member towns, events in our area, as well as the Chamber’s membership directory and ads from our Chamber members.
Over 10,000 of these guides are printed each year and are distributed throughout the seven State Information Centers, as well as our lodging facilities, in relocation packets that are sent out weekly to interested people who want to either visit or relocate to our area. What an advertising opportunity for any Chamber member with distribution that far and wide.
Speaking of membership, it is not too late to join YOUR Chamber. We offer wonderful benefits to Chamber members and at a very affordable dues fee. Have a voice in your community; join our board of directors. The Chamber has several open seats available and will be voting on new directors at the upcoming Annual Dinner. Call the Chamber office or stop by and pick up your application to become a director. Take pride in your community and get involved today!
Enjoy the Spring; and I’ll see you around town!
