We prey on each other


Recently, I walked past the cigarette display in an area store. Just a little further along the aisle was a display of medication designed to help smokers give up tobacco. What is wrong with this picture?

The powers that be in Maine have authorized combining slot machines with horse racing to increase interest in racing. In the final count, the gambling industry has to be profitable. This means the gamblers always lose. This is disastrously true if gambling becomes compulsive for the individual gambler.

Alcoholism is a serious disease. We are a people who prey on each other. To quote the Bible, “… this ought not to be.”
