Proper and fitting park

0

Recently, I was involved with the first flag-burning ceremony at the Veterans Memorial Park in Lewiston, along with numerous other veterans. Speaking for many, I say thanks to the leadership of Bert Dutil, Joe Paradis and the L-A United Council for establishing a memorial park in such a beautiful location.

Each black marble stone pays tribute to and honors all veterans who answered the call or voluntarily joined the service.

It is proper and fitting that the memorial park recognizes not only those who served during periods of national conflict, but those who served during peacetime, with equal honor and personal commitment.

We are proud of those listed on each stone, and of the families, friends and tourists alike who continue to visit the Veterans Memorial Park on the banks of the Androscoggin River, overlooking the waterfalls.
