Pulitzer Prize winner to lecture


CAMDEN – Camden Public Library will conclude its 2005-06 literary lecture series with best-selling author Jane Smiley Sunday, April 23, at the Camden Opera House.

Smiley’s lecture, “13 Ways of Looking at the Novel,” is also the title of her latest book.

Attendees will have the opportunity to participate in a question-and-answer session, and to have books signed by the author. Patron ticketholders are invited to a post-lecture reception with the author at the library.

Smiley is the author of several works of fiction as well as essays, articles and nonfiction. She won the 1992 Pulitzer Prize for her book “A Thousand Acres,” an adaptation of Shakespeare’s “King Lear.”

The Arts & Lecture Series is a collaboration between Camden Public Library and Bay Chamber Concerts.

The lecture will begin at 2:30 p.m. Tickets are $18-$25 for adults, $8 for students. Patron tickets, which include a reception with the author, are $45.
