GRAY — As one of Maine’s eight newest state troopers, Jeremy Pyburn received his badge in ceremonies at the Maine Criminal Justice Academy in Vassalboro on Sept. 15.
He completed 10 weeks of specialized state police training, which is in addition to the 18 weeks of training required for all Maine police officers. He will patrol with a veteran trooper before patrolling on his own. He has been assigned to Troop B in Gray.
Pyburn, who grew up in Hiram, has served as a medic in the Maine Army National Guard and also served in Afghanistan. He is a graduate of the University of Maine at Orono. For the past three years he has worked as a welder.
