Rabbi working with cast of ‘Diary of Anne Frank’

AUBURN – Rabbi Hillel Katzir of Temple Shalom is working with Lewiston/Auburn Community Little Theatre on its June 2 to 11 production of “The Diary of Anne Frank” as a consultant to the director and the cast. He worked with the theater in a similar capacity on last season’s “Fiddler on the Roof.”

Recently, the cast attended a traditional Passover Seder gathering at Temple Shalom and traveled to Temple Beth El in Augusta, where they heard several people speak of their experiences as survivors of the Holocaust.

Written by Frances Goodrich and Albert Hackett, and adapted by Wendy Kesselman, “The Diary of Anne Frank” dramatizes the well-known story of a 13-year-old girl living in hiding with her family and others in the secret annex of an Amsterdam warehouse during the Nazi occupation of Holland during World War II.

Lee Griswold is directing the play. All performances will be held at Great Falls Performing Arts Center. Tickets may be reserved by calling the box office 783-0958 or accessing the theater’s Web site at www.laCLT.com.
