AUBURN — Raymond J. “Ray” Bissonette, 77, of Auburn, passed away peacefully Thursday, Jan. 11, surrounded by his family, due to the progressive effects of pulmonary fibrosis. He was born Jan. 2, 1941, in Auburn, son of Edward and Fernande (Cote) Bissonette. He graduated from Lewiston High School in 1958, and married the love of his life, Marie Anne Beaudette, in September 1959.
An Army/National Guard veteran, Ray continued his education completing financial studies at Fairfield University and Husson College, and worked many years in the banking and financial planning industry. Following his retirement, he enjoyed working part time for United Wheelchair Services in Lewiston.
Ray found great joy in fishing, hunting, cooking and gardening. He believed that laughter was the best medicine, and always had an endless supply of jokes at the tip of his tongue ready to share with friends and strangers alike.
Ray is survived by his loving wife, Marie Anne; his daughters, Monique (Bill) Shrader and Anne (Chris) Hathaway; his son, Mike (Lisa) Bissonette; and his seven grandchildren, Ellen and Kevin Shrader, Spencer (Alex) and Carter Hathaway, and Amanda, Eliza and Lily Bissonette. He is also survived by his brother, Richard (Pauline) Bissonette; and his sisters, Lucille (Jim) Martin and Sue (Jay) Goodwin; along with many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
