AUBURN – NAPA Auto Parts squeezed out a 13-12 win against Taylor Brook Dental in eight innings Tuesday night, improving its Auburn Rec softball record to 3-1.
Both teams scored six runs in the first inning and matched each other the rest of the way to enter the eighth inning tied at 10. NAPA led off the eighth scoring three runs and putting the pressure on Taylor Brook, which responded by scoring a run and loading the bases with two outs.
NAPA intentionally walked Alex Washington, who already had hit two home runs in the game, to concede Taylor Brook another run. That gamble set up the third out on a soft ground ball to shortstop Kevin Pontbriand.
Andy Ouellette and Miles Hartford led the way for NAPA, each going 3-for-3. Ouellette scored three times and knocked in a run. Hartford had one run scored with twp RBIs. Demetrius Starks and Terry Goguen each chipped in with a 3-for-4 day. Starks had three runs scored and an RBI, while Goguen had a double and two RBIs. Anthony Clark and Kasey Clark each helped out with a 2-for-3 effort.
NAPA plays Tuesday, May 25th at 7:15 p.m. at Pettingill Park against The Marauders, who are coming off their second win of the season.
