AUBURN — Reginald V. Caron, 83, formerly of Winslow, died on Sunday, May 29, at Clover Manor health care facility after a period of failing health.
He was born in Lewiston on Nov. 11, 1927, the son of the late Albert and Lea Gagne Caron.
He attended local schools and was a graduate of Lewiston High School, Class of 1947. He then entered the U.S. Navy from 1948 to 1952, serving during the Korean Conflict. He then graduated from the Bishop-Lee Theater School of Boston. He was in numerous plays and theatrical productions in Boston, where he resided for more than 15 years on Beacon Hill. He then moved to North Providence, R.I., where he worked at ER Hutchinson & Co. as a data processor at the Pawtucket, R.I., facility until his retirement in 1994.
He was an active member of the USS Brownson (DD-868) and Tin Can Sailor Inc.
Reginald also was very involved in roller-skating; he was a competitor in dance and figures from 1986 to 1994, winning four gold, four silver and two bronze medals.
He is survived by his sisters, Leola Gendreau and her husband, Herve, and Sonya Turcotte, all of Lewiston; and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by a brother, Dr. Florian E. Caron; a sister, Joanne Caron; and a brother-in-law, Robert J. Turcotte.
