AUBURN — The American Cancer Society Relay For Life® of Androscoggin County invites those interested to register their team by visiting RelayForLife.org/androscogginme or by calling 1-800-227-2345.
People may also register by attending one of the next team captain’s meetings at Andover College, Lisbon Street, Lewiston, at 6 p.m. Tuesday, April 13 or May 11.
Former and current cancer patients, those who have lost a loved one to cancer, families, businesses, faith-based and civic organizations and anyone wanting to make a difference in the fight against cancer are invited to take part. Relay For Life will take place from 6 p.m. Friday, June 11, until 10 a.m. Saturday, June 12, at Edward Little High School Track.
Individuals and teams camp out with the goal of keeping at least one team member on the track or pathway at all times throughout the evening. Teams do most of their fundraising prior to the event, but some teams also hold creative fundraisers at their camp sites during Relay.
“Relay For Life draws attention to the progress being made in the fight against cancer,” said Rebecca Branagan, volunteer chairwoman for the event. “Many participants are our family, friends and neighbors who have faced cancer themselves. Their involvement helps brings hope that, together, we can eliminate cancer as a major health problem.”
