Renald R. Robert


CLYDE, N.Y. – Renald R. (Ron) Robert, 76, of West Genesee Street, died peacefully Thursday, Dec. 28, at home, after a courageous battle with cancer.

He was born in Lewiston, Aug. 6, 1930, the son of the late Joseph and Lucienne (Levesque) Robert, he graduated from St. Dominic Regional High School, Class of 1949. He also attended Rochester Institute of Technology.

On July 1, 1951, he married Jane Lamar. He served in the Marine Corps from 1952 to 1954. Ron lived in Rochester for 22 years, working at Bausch and Lomb, Stromberg Carlsen and General Dynamics, before moving to Clyde in 1974, where he owned and operated the Clyde Hardware Store.

He was an active member of St. John’s Church, Knights of Columbus and Clyde Chamber of Commerce.

Surviving are his wife of 55 years, Jane; three daughters, Julie (Rod) Riviello of Clyde, N.Y., Christine (Dan) Harter of Chili, N.Y. and Anne (Scott) Hewitt of Webster, N.Y.; two sons, Michael (Jackie) Robert of Brighton, N.Y. and John (Jill) Robert of Newark, N.Y.; 12 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and four sisters, Joan Moore of Kamiah, Idaho, Carmen (Ned) Beaulieu, Jeannine (Normand) St. Marie and Claudette Robert, all of Lewiston.

He was predeceased by four brothers, Lucien, Marcel, Richard and Gaston Robert.
