Representative announces charity golf tournament at The Meadows

LITCHFIELD – The first Maine Coalition to Fight Prostate Cancer Golf Tournament will take place Sept. 29 at The Meadows, according to state Rep. Nancy E. Smith, D-Monmouth.

The coalition needs money to assist its mission to provide support groups, educational forums, research and most importantly prostate cancer awareness, including information about the importance of testing.

This year about 1,500 Maine men will be told they have prostate cancer. Many participants of the golf tournament will be prostate cancer survivors.

Registration costs $90 (team fee, $360) and includes golf fees, golf cart, 18 holes, a delectable lunch of lobster and steak, plus giveaways and prizes. Sign up and pay by Aug. 1 for an early bird discount: $320 Team/$80 Individual. Corporate sponsors are welcome as are donations of $25 to honor survivors whose names will be featured on signs at each tee. There is also a car giveaway sponsored by Charlie’s Auto Mall in Augusta for a hole-in-one.

The event is dedicated to the many Maine survivors of prostate cancer.
