Richard C. Hinkley


AUBURN – Richard C. Hinkley, 59, of Lewiston, passed away on April 12, at the Auburn Hospice House, after a long illness, with his family and friends by his side.

He was born on April 5, 1947, in Farmington, a son of Clayton A. and Delvine M. (Vose) Hinkley. He grew up in Strong and attended their local schools.

He graduated from high school, Class of 1965. He then enlisted in the U.S. Army and went off to serve his country in the Vietnam War.

After he returned from the war, he went to work at G.H. Bass and Knapp Shoe, until his retirement in 1982. He enjoyed collecting silver and spending time with his friends. He had a great love for animals, especially his cats.

He is survived by his mother, Delvine M. Hinkley of Strong; a sister, Crystal R. Wilson and husband, James M. Wilson Jr., of Strong; four brothers, Nowell Hinkley and companion, Dawn Coolong, of Strong, Nicholas Hinkley of Strong, Darryl Hinkley and wife, Jill, of Indiana and Eric Hinkley and wife, Donna, of Farmington; as well as many nieces, nephews, close friends and his girls.

He was predeceased by his father, Clayton A. Hinkley; and a sister-in-law, Cheryl Hinkley.
