Richard L. LaChapelle


LEWISTON – Richard L. LaChapelle, 72, passed away on Monday, April 17, at d’Youville Pavilion, where he had lived for many years.

He was born in Lewiston on Jan. 2, 1934, the son of the late Alfred and Lena Anna Dufresne LaChapelle. He married the late Denise Lanois on Sept. 18, 1970. He grew up in New Auburn and attended local schools. He worked as a heelseat laster at Koss Shoe and later at Knapp Shoe.

He enjoyed spending time with his family.

Survivors include his son and a daughter-in-law, James and Tina LaChapelle; his grandson, Austin; two brothers, Albert and his wife, Lucille, of Lowell, Mass., Paul and his wife, Yvette, of Lewiston; a sister-in-law, Theresa LaChapelle of Westbrook; several nieces, nephews, sisters and brothers-in-law.

He was predeceased by his parents; his wife, Denise on May 23, 2005; a daughter, Anne Marie; and one brother, Roland.

His family would like to express appreciation to his sister-in-law, Rita Lemay, who over the past years lovingly watched over Richard’s care, Androscoggin Hospice worker, Louis Dupres, the staff at d’Youville-3 West, Dr. George Morrissette, Dr. David Dettmann, and Father Frank Murray.
