Crew removes ledge on Route 108 in Rumford

Traffic on Route 108 was reduced to one lane on Wednesday morning opposite NewPage Corp. in Rumford while an excavator from Pratt and Sons of Minot removed loose rock. A Maine Drilling and Blasting crew will arrive next week to break up larger chunks of ledge lining the south-bound lane to provide a 10-foot snow storage shelf before the Maine Department of Transportation project shuts down for the winter on Thursday, Dec. 23, MDOT engineer Jeff Wallace said on Wednesday.

Looks awesome!

Kudos to the guys doing the work. What they are doing looks great and will definitely help with the water problem that occurs by the turn to the mill. Keep up the good work!!!
