Robert E. Lowell


South Paris – Robert E. Lowell, 79, of South Paris died Thursday, May 11, at the Maine Veterans’ Home.

He was born in South Paris on June 6, 1926, the son of Eugene P. and Doris Culbert Lowell. He graduated from Paris High School. He faithfully served his country in the U.S. Navy during World War II in the Atlantic and Pacific Theaters. He re-enlisted and served during the Korean War as well.

He married Joanne Milton on Aug. 8, 1948. He was a police officer for the city of Lewiston from 1952 to 1955. He then became a Maine State Trooper until 1964. He retired from the Concord Group Insurance Co. after 25 years as an adjuster and property inspector. He was a member of the Paris Masonic Lodge, the Shriners, the V.F.W. and the American Legion.

He is survived by his wife of South Paris; two daughters, Lisa Bujno of Northwood, N.H. and Elizabeth Benson and her husband, Scott, of Augusta; a son, Christopher E. Lowell and his wife, Michele, of Waldorf, Md.; seven grandchildren, Alexandrea and Sarah Bujno, Bryenna Rice, Michaela Rice, Caitlyn, Samantha and Erin Lowell.
