LIVERMORE FALLS — Robert E. Martin Sr., 74, of Gilbert Street, Livermore Falls, died Friday afternoon at his home, surrounded by his family.
He was born June 21, 1935, in Lewiston, the son of Clarence and Estella (Stetson) Martin. He attended school in Livermore (Brettuns), and later continued his education in Massachusetts, earning his master’s degree in mechanical refrigeration.
On June 24, 1959, in Maryland, he married his wife of 50 years, Rita Robinson of Livermore.
He was owner and operator of R.E. Martin Mechanical Refrigeration. After retiring from his company, he worked with his son at his son’s business, B & V’s Garage in Livermore Falls.
Robert enjoyed fishing and his family.
He is survived by his wife, Rita Martin, of Livermore Falls; four sons, Robert Martin Jr. and his wife, Valerie, of Livermore Falls, Derwood Martin and his companion, Kathy Martin, of Lewiston, Ernest Martin and his wife, Dena, of Norway, and Bruce Martin and his companion, Alica Delano, of Livermore Falls; one daughter, Lisa Martin and her companion, Tom Auger, of Wales; his sister, Grace Morin of Lewiston; 20 grandchildren, two who were especially dear, Bob Stanley Martin and Courtney Truman; and 10 great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his sister, Laura Haynes; his brother, Stanley Martin; and his granddaughter, Crystal Martin, in 1981.
