Robert H. ‘Bob’ Olsen
1935 – 2010
MARYVILLE, Tenn. — Robert H. “Bob” Olsen, 75, passed away peacefully at Blount Memorial Hospital on March 19, with his loving family by his side.
Bob was born Jan. 2, 1935, in Mexico, to Lenora N. “Teeny” Olsen. He grew up in the Rumford/Mexico area and was a self-employed construction worker. After moving to Florida, he married Dorothy Cook DeConzo on Dec. 26, 1987. They resided in Florida, until 1992, when they moved to Maryville, Tenn. He was employed with Allegheny Petroleum for 10 years as a consultant until his illness.
He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing, hunting, and weekly trips to Cades Cove in the Smokey Mountains. He was a huge NASCAR fan who could be found in the stands at Bristol decked out in No. 3. He enjoyed traveling and spending time with his “Kiddos.” As his illness kept him at home, he enjoyed long naps with his best buddy, Angel.
He is survived by his wife, Dottie of Maryville, Tenn.; his children, Richard Olsen and his companion, Julie Jaques, of Livermore Falls, Cindy Spranger of Maryville, Tenn., Michael DeConzo of Maryville, Tenn., Robert Olsen and his wife, Lauree, of Wilton, Darcie Pollis and her husband, Keith, of Fayette, Daniel DeConzo and his wife, Kim, of Oceanside, Calif., and Larry Spranger of Maryville, Tenn.; his grandchildren, Leslie Spranger and her fiancé, Jimmy Knaff Jr., and great-grandson, Austin, of Maryville, Tenn., Jason and his wife, Bobbie, and Tanya Olsen, of Canton, Michael DeConzo Jr. of North Carolina, Desarae and Lindsey Olsen, of Auburn, Alissa Pollis of Fayette, Leonardo DeConzo of Oceanside, Calif., Aaron Sinclair of Burlington, Vt., Elisabeth, Zachary, Allison, and Kelsey Frechette of Wilton; seven great-grandchildren; and several aunts and cousins.
He was predeceased by his mother, Lenora “Teeny” Beau; his grandparents, Michael and Florence Olsen; his son, Bernard DeConzo; and a daughter-in-law, Julie Marsters.
