1932 – 2013
LEWISTON — Roberta P. Ridley, 80, of Lisbon, passed away Friday morning at Central Maine Medical Center, following a brief illness.
She was born in Lewiston, on March 25, 1932, a daughter of Irving and Hazel (Burnham) Darling. She grew up in the Sabattus area and attended local schools. She was a graduate of Sabattus High School, Class of 1950.
On July 15, 1950, Roberta married her high school love, Leonard Ridley Sr., in Sabattus. For many years, she worked in various mills as a laborer; she finished at Miller Mill. After that, Roberta and Leonard owned and operated a small store together for a few years.
She will always be known for her enjoyment of making crafts, volunteering at the Good Shepard Food Bank and her many church works. She was a proud member of Lisbon Free Baptist Church in Lisbon.
Roberta leaves behind her loving husband of 62 years, Leonard Ridley Sr. of Lisbon; three children, Everett Ridley and his wife, Vicki of Lewiston, Roland Ridley Sr. of Lisbon and Tina Berger and her husband, John, of Maryland. She is also survived by a brother, Wesley Darling, of Auburn; three sisters, Connie Bowen and her husband, Pete, of Lewiston, Donna Woodman and her husband, Woody, of Monmouth and Tina Ayer and her husband, Chet, of Sumner; as well as 15 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by a son, Leonard Ridley Jr.; two brothers, Lawrence and Everett Darling; and one sister, Laura Cloutier.
