WAYNE – An unusual wedding was held on Aug. 12 in the middle of Pocasset Lake in Wayne. Daniel Deshaies and Lori Robertson were married in a boat in the middle of the lake the bridegroom grew up on. The cottage was owned by his grandfather, father and now his sister.

Attending in boats were children of the bride, Melissa and Matt, parents, Sherry and Tom Caryll, and the brother and sister-in-law of the bride, Shawn and Rachel Caryll. Shawn Caryll officiated at the ceremony.

Also attending in boats were parents of the bridegroom, Jackie and Bernard Deshaies, and his sister and brother-in-law, Jill and David Lovewell. Watching from shore were Josh and Jay Lovewell, Melissa Benson and the couple’s infant son, Nathaniel.

After they said their vows, they jumped in the lake to seal their union. A champagne toast was enjoyed by all, as well as dinner and a wedding cake back at the cottage.

Mr. Deshaies is athletic director at Edward Little High School and Mrs. Deshaies is employed by the Gray-New Gloucester school system.

The couple is planning a honeymoon to the Bahamas in March.
