Rodney H. Hanscom
BETHEL — Rodney Harold Hanscom, 60, of Bethel, died March 7, at his residence.
He was born in Rumford on July 13, 1949, the son of Rodney Hartley Hanscom and Kathleen (Brooks) Hanscom and was educated in local schools. Rodney had worked as a laborer at Chadbourne Lumber and later Hancock Lumber for over 43 years. He had been a volunteer with B.E.A.R.S for many years, had been active with the Boy Scouts as a leader for many years, enjoyed moose watching, fishing, camping and dancing. Rodney was a member of the West Bethel Union Church and was past master of the Bethel Lodge A.F. & A.M. He was a former member of the I.O.O. F of Bethel and the Pleasant Valley Grange.
Rodney was a family man and adored his family and the time he spent with them. He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Christine (Churchill) Hanscom of Bethel; one son, Ronald Hanscom of North Conway, N. H.; one daughter, Stephanie Bragdon and her husband, Arthur, of Bethel; two brothers, David Hanscom and his wife, Sue, of Mason Township and Brian Hanscom and his wife, Wendy, of Newry; one sister, Nancy Anderson and her husband, Peter, of Bethel; seven grandchildren, Denise Morse and her husband, Chris, of Bethel; Staff Sgt. Keith Walley and his wife, Shawna, of Ft. Stewart, Georgia, Matthew Bragdon, Mitchell Bragdon and Kaitlynn Bragdon, all of Bethel, and Tyler Hanscom and Abigail Hanscom, both of Middleboro, Mass.; and six great-grandchildren, Krysten Morse, Kaydence Morse, Kyeria Morse and Karyssa Morse, all of Bethel and Damian Walley and Tara Walley, both of Ft. Stewart, Ga.
