LEWISTON — Roger L. Fournier, 78, a resident of Lewiston died early Wednesday, April 28, at his home with his loving family by his side.
He was born in Lewiston, Sept. 27, 1931, the son of Napoleon and Rose (Berthiaume) Fournier and had been a resident of this community all of his life. He was educated in Lewiston schools.
Later he co-owned and operated Happy Jack’s Restaurant in Lewiston with his brother Laurier Fournier, until his retirement in 1988.
He was an avid sportsman having enjoyed fishing in Canada, hunting, snowmobiling, golfing with his friends at Martindale Country Club and also in Florida. He loved his camp on Sabattus Lake, where he held many family reunions and gatherings throughout his life. He and his wife, Theresa, enjoyed spending their winters in Florida, with their many friends and family. Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his grandson Jacques and his granddaughters Kelsey and Haley.
He was a parishioner of Holy Cross Church and was a Fourth Degree member of the Knights of Columbus Council 106 in Lewiston.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, the former Theresa G. Theriault, whom he married on Sept. 5, 1955 of Lewiston; two sons, John Fournier and his wife, Christine, of Lewiston and Patrick Fournier of Lewiston; one daughter, Lisa Fournier of Lewiston; three grandchildren, Jacques and Kelsey Cyr and Haley Breton; one sister, Carmen Giancotti and her husband, Marco, of Old Orchard Beach; one sister-in-law, Doris Fournier of Lewiston; and many nieces and nephews, who loved him dearly.
He was predeceased by two brothers, Laurier and George Fournier; and a sister-in-law, Elizabeth Fournier.
The family wishes to thank Dr. Darlene Miller, Dr. Roy Ulin and Androscoggin Home Care & Hospice for the wonderful care they have given to Roger throughout his final days.
