Roger R. Coulombe


AUBURN – Roger R. Coulombe, 83, died Saturday evening, Jan. 6, at Clover Manor with his family by his side.

He was born in Lewiston, on Feb. 20, 1923, a son of the late Jesse and Alma (Poulin) Coulombe.

He was educated in local schools and on Nov. 27, 1941, he married the former Germaine T. Pelletier.

He worked in many local shoe shops as a well respected industrial engineer.

He was a past member of Sacred Heart Church, past president of the Associated Shoe Executives of Maine, past member of the Toast Masters Club, Kiwanis Club and started the Lewiston/Auburn Shoe Training Center.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing, cross country skiing, snowshoeing, hiking, baseball and football. He also loved to spend time with his dogs, Lucy and Apolo; and his cat, Kit.

He will be remembered most for how much he loved his family, and his leadership, kindness and generosity to anyone in need.

He is survived by his wife, Germaine Adams; three daughters, Sandra Ahlberg and husband, William, of Mechanic Falls, Dolores Poulin and husband, John, of Auburn, and Lucille Slocum and husband, Mark, of Durham; three sons, Michael Coulombe and wife, Annette, of Norway, Ronald Coulombe and wife, Carol, of Skowhegan, and Jesse Coulombe and wife, Sharon, of Poland; a daughter-in-law, Valerie Coulombe of Norridgewock; 17 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren; a niece, Kit-Marie Austin-Haveman; and a nephew, Thomas Deering of California.

He was predeceased by a daughter, Theresa G. Coulombe; a son, David R. Coulombe; a sister, Pearl V. Roth; and a special cousin, Lucille Pielette.
