Rose B. Gallant


Rumford – Rose B. Gallant, 79, of Route 108 in Rumford, died Wednesday, April 5, after a brief illness.

She was born in Rumford, on June 15, 1926, a daughter of Germano and Anna (Loida) DeFilipp.

She attended St. Athanasius and Stephens High School in Rumford.

She was employed for several years with Oxford Paper Co. and later at various local shoe shops.

She was a communicant of St. Athanasius & St. John Catholic Church. She was a member of the LeParesseux Snow Shoe Club and a charter member of Gorizia 467 Lodge, Sons of Italy.

She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and aunt. She was also an excellent cook and skilled cake decorator.

She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Thomas J. Gallant, a son, Mike Gallant and wife, Molly, of Hallowell; a brother, Pat DeFilipp and wife, Aldona, of Mexico; sisters-in-law, Anita Orino of Rumford, Fannie DeFilipp of Lewiston, Frances DeFilipp of Mexico, Doris DeFilipp of Rumford, Andrea DeFilipp of Lewiston, and Judy Gallant of Vassalboro; brother-in-law, James “Dick” Perry of Rumford; grandson, Brian Gallant and wife, Analisa, of Augusta; great-grandson, Spencer Gallant of Augusta; and several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by a son, Salvatore Gallant; brothers, Dominick, Vito, Salvatore, Joseph and John; sisters, Antoinette and Mary; and a granddaughter, Angela Gallant.
