Rowena M. Johnson


Portsmouth, N.H. – Rowena M. Johnson, 73, of Portsmouth, N.H., died Friday, July 6, at Portsmouth Regional Hospital.

She was born May 23, 1934, in Presque Isle, a daughter of the late Robert and Mildred (Everett) Guiggey. She was a graduate of Presque Isle High School and attended Barrington College in R.I.

She was employed as a clerk typist by the U.S. Air Force in Limestone, where she met her husband of 46 years, Herbert A. Johnson. In 1964 they moved to Portsmouth, N.H. where they have since resided. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Kittery Point, and an active member of the Order of the Eastern Star. She also enjoyed watching and participating in candlepin bowling.

Survivors include two sons, Mark L. Johnson and his wife, Linda, of Richmond, Va., and Adam M. Johnson and his wife, Sherri, of Trenton, S.C.; stepson, George Johnson and his wife, Jeanne, of San Antonio, Texas; stepdaughter, Linda Sue Goodwin and her husband, Frank, of Livermore; granddaughter, Kimi Johnson of San Antonio, Texas; two brothers, John Guiggey and his wife, Connie, of Woburn, Mass., Robert Guiggey and his wife, Gloria, of Melbourne, Fla.; two nieces; and two nephews.
