RUMFORD — Selectmen and the town manager’s office recently released a schedule for Rumford’s budget process for fiscal year 2013-14.
Unless otherwise noted, all meetings will be held at 6 p.m. in Rumford Falls Auditorium.
Department heads are to give their proposed budgets to selectmen by Friday, Feb. 8, and to meet with Town Manager Carlo Puiia at predetermined times on Wednesday, Feb. 13, according to the schedule.
Initiated article requests are due at Puiia’s office by Friday, Feb. 22.
On Wednesday and Thursday, Feb. 27 and 28, workshops with department heads on their proposed budgets will be held for selectmen and the Finance Committee.
Selectmen are to receive the budget from the town manager’s office by Friday, March 1.
At scheduled times Tuesday and Wednesday, March 12 and 13, selectmen will meet to hear department requests.
On Monday, March 18, selectmen will hold a public hearing and vote on initiated article requests. Later that week on Thursday, March 21, the board will hold another public hearing and vote on Puiia’s proposed budget.
A third public hearing and vote by selectmen on initiated article requests will be held Monday, March 25.
The process switches to the Finance Committee, which must receive the budget approved by selectmen on Thursday, March 28.
The Finance Committee will hold a public hearing on initiated article requests on Monday, April 8. It will also convene public hearings and votes on department budgets on Wednesday and Thursday, April 10 and 11.
Selectmen will convene a public hearing for ordinance requests on Tuesday, April 16, and are to receive the budget from the Finance Committee on Thursday, April 18.
Selectmen are to hold a public hearing for ordinance requests on Tuesday, April 23. That will be followed with a public hearing for the budget on Thursday, May 16, prior to the regular Board of Selectmen meeting. Members of the Finance Committee and selectmen are to attend.
The annual town business meeting and a public hearing for the budget will be held on Monday, June 3. The Finance Committee and selectmen will be present.
Secret ballot voting commences at 9 a.m. Tuesday, June 11, during the annual town secret poll meeting at the American Legion on Congress Street.
