1927 – 2013
LEWISTON — Ruth Ann Daigle, 85, of Main Street, Auburn, died Jan. 25, at St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center, with her loving family by her side, after a brief illness.
She was born in Lewiston, April 9, 1927, the daughter of William R. Lehman and Anna J. (Geyer) Lehman. She attended Lewiston schools. Prior to her retirement, she was employed by Zayre’s Department Store in Lewiston for 12 years.
She was a member of St. Philips Catholic Church of Auburn. In 2000, she received the Alpha Chi Honors Sunday Program award from Mount Ida College in Newton, Mass., in recognition of a lifetime of unselfish dedication to the welfare of children. She was a foster parent of 17 children over a period of 15 years.
She liked playing bingo and doing ceramics.
Surviving are three daughters, Barbara Jordan and her husband, Gary, of Greene, Doreen Parker and her husband, Bruce, of Sabattus and Kathleen Goupil and her husband, Gerard, of Frost Proof, Fla.; four sons, Richard Daigle of Lewiston, Robert J. Daigle and his wife, Barbara, of Auburn, Kenneth Daigle and his wife, June, of Durham and Daniel Daigle and his companion, Angela LaFontaine, of Auburn; one sister, Barbara Lynn of Auburn; one brother, Ralph Lehman and his wife, Nola, of White River Junction, Vt.; 16 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by two sons, Raymond J. Daigle Jr. and Dennis Daigle; one daughter, Patricia A. Daigle; two sisters, Esther Lehman and Evelyn Lehman; a brother-in-law, James Lynn and her parents.
