PARIS — The second in a series of public informational meetings on improving education in SAD 17 will be held from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 2, in the Oxford Hills Middle School library.

Curriculum Director Heather Manchester said the forum will ask such questions as:

• What would parents like to see students learn?

• How can families and schools work together for the benefit of students?

• What is proficiency-based education? and

• How will this approach support student learning?

More than a dozen parents, students and educators attended the first “community conversation” April 4. Manchester said then that she hopes the meetings will lay a foundation for developing action steps that will improve the success rate for students.

The sessions are in addition to ongoing student conversations at the high school and middle school to better understand what it will take to be successful, Manchester said.

Refreshments and child care will be available, and a raffle is planned.
