Samson announces candidacy for sheriff


AUBURN — Eric Samson, a lifelong Androscoggin County resident, is running in the upcoming primary election for sheriff of Androscoggin County.

Samson graduated from Lewiston High School and attended the University of Maine at Augusta. He has been employed by the Androscoggin County Sheriff’s Department since 1991, serving as a corrections officer, patrol deputy, Transport Division supervisor, programs director and currently as chief deputy. Samson also worked as a patrolman for the Mechanic Falls Police Department.

Samson served two terms on the Auburn City Council as the Ward 3 representative and is serving as an at-large representative. He has served as the mayor’s representative on the School Committee and on the committee that examines Lewiston and Auburn joint ventures. He has served on the boards of directors for the Lewiston-Auburn Economic Growth Council, Mid-Maine Waste Action Corp. and Community Concepts.

He currently serves on the boards of directors of the Androscoggin Valley Council of Governments and the Auburn Business Development Corp., and serves on the Lewiston-Auburn 911 Committee.

 Samson, his wife, Holly, daughter Madison and son Camren reside at 28 Windemere Way.
