FARMINGTON — This fall, Sexual Assault Prevention & Response Services will offer support groups for both men and women who have experienced sexual violence, whether as children or adults, recently or in the past.
The men’s support group meets weekly on Tuesdays from 6:30 to 8 p.m. in Farmington. To schedule an appointment for a screening interview for the group, call 207-778-9522 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
The women’s support group will use the book “The Courage to Heal,” by Laura Davis, as the basis for discussions. Books will be provided to participants. The dates and times of the women’s group will be based on the availability of participants. For more information, call 207-778-9522 or email email@example.com.
Support groups are a great tool for healing and recovery. Talking with other survivors can assist in letting go of self blame and shame, can facilitate finding one’s voice and help to develop tips for healthy coping skills in daily living.
Both of these groups are free and confidential.
