Second fire burns an Augusta apartment building

AUGUSTA — A second apartment building has burned in Augusta, which was home to five people homeless, according to a report by CBS 13.

The fire burned on State Street, but no one was injured, the report stated.

The Augusta fire chief told CBS 13 that the fire was not suspicious, but the cause is unknown.

The Red Cross is assisting the families, and provided lodging at the same hotel that hosted the tenants of last week’s Northern Avenue apartment fire, the report said.
