BANGOR (AP) — Officials say Sen. Olympia Snowe’s office in Bangor had to be evacuated for several hours because of a questionable package.
Spokesman Ken Lundberg said staff followed safety procedures when a suspicious package was found in Friday’s mail.
The Bangor Daily News says part of the Margaret Chase Smith Federal Building was evacuated, but not the entire building.
Police were notified Friday afternoon. Lundberg said it appeared that there was a piece of mail that emitted some type of powder. Tests were conducted, and the all-clear sign was given several hours later.
