LIVERMORE FALLS – The Jay-Livermore Falls Seniors met at 1 p.m. March 1, at Murray Hall, with 28 members in attendance.
Chairwoman Shirley Couture opened the meeting with a prayer, salute to the flag and a moment of silence for the men and women serving in the armed forces, as well as for departed members. She asked that members pray for the members who are unable to attend meetings.
The secretary’s and treasurer’s reports were read and accepted.
It was reported Shirley Toncer was in the hospital. A get well card was signed by all present wishing her well.
It was voted that on Monday, March 15, the group will celebrate St. Patrick’s Day with a meal of finger foods. Everyone should bring something to share. It will be served at 1 p.m. to accommodate the members who attend church at noon. A meeting and socializing will follow.
Couture also said that State Representative Paul Gilbert has invited the group to visit the State House in the spring. She asked if the group would like to go in April. Many agreed, so she will contact him for a date. There will be carpooling for those who wish to attend.
The 50/50 was won by Georgia Hersey. Door prizes, donated by Hersey, were won by Mailyn DeSoto and Jean Luciano. Refreshements were brought by Hersey and Pat Couture.
The next meeting will be on Monday, March 8, when the group will have a Chinese auction with food or small items. Carmen Moreau and Alice Demoras volunteered to bring in refreshments for the meeting.
After the meeting was adjourned, bingo and cards were played.
