TURNER — For the second day, teams of investigators were at a Saracens clubhouse on Route 4 Wednesday, searching for evidence in a shooting that left a member of the motorcycle group seriously injured.

The victim of the Tuesday afternoon shooting, 67-year-old Bertrand Binette, was recovering from four gunshot wounds Wednesday at Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston.

At the request of Binette’s family, the hospital was not releasing further information.

Maine State Police obtained a warrant to search Binette’s home, which doubles as the Saracens clubhouse. Throughout the day Wednesday, detectives from that agency were joined by others from the Androscoggin County Sheriff’s Office as they collected potential evidence.

Police did not say what, if anything, was found at the clubhouse. By late Wednesday, no one had been arrested in the shooting.

Police said Binette called for help himself at about 2 p.m. Tuesday after he was shot. There were early indications that he had returned fire but police did not confirm those reports.

Police remained at the scene of the shooting after dark Wednesday night and were expected to be there at least into Thursday morning.
