On Jan. 9, I was watching local cable television and heard Charles Soule speaking on the issue of the appointment of Lewiston’s interim mayor. The discussion was about if the interim mayor could appoint individuals to the Lewiston city boards.
The next day’s newspaper surprised me, as it did not contain any of Soule’s comments about how he would allow the city council’s president to be appointed interim mayor, and that the interim mayor could appoint board members. Soule stated that the next elected mayor could, or would, have the option to ask for the resignation of those appointments to Lewiston’s boards.
There was a lot of grandstanding on a simple solution put forth by Soule.
