PORTLAND — Port City Music Hall will host the Rock Off finals Saturday, May 1, when six bands will compete for the title of Best High School Band in Maine. The competition will begin at 1:30 p.m.
The finalists are Fyve of Winthrop, The Loudest Mime of Freeport, Low-Flying Airplanes of Yarmouth, Mousam River Ramblers of Kennebunk, Pilgrimage of Cheverus High School and Midnite Haze of Telstar High School/Bethel.
Special guests Paranoid Social Club will perform while judges tabulate the results.
The winning band will receive $1,000 in cash plus an extensive prize package. It will also get to open for the May 1 night-time show at Port City Music Hall, which will feature Holy Boys Danger Club and Paranoid Social Club.
The Rock Off is put on by the Maine Academy of Modern Music with help from the Portland Music Foundation and www.MaineToday.com. Tickets are $10 for students, $12 for adults.
