Slide presentation to feature tigers

NORWAY – A slide show, “Saving Siberian Tigers in the Russian Far East,” will be presented at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 17, at the Norway Memorial Library.

Karin Elliot, president of Russian Language Services Maine, will discuss her work on Siberian tiger conservation.

Elliot holds master’s degrees from Stanford University and the Monterey Institute of International Studies. She has worked, studied and traveled extensively through the former Soviet Union and Russia, including Siberia and the Russian Far East.

Elliot has interpreted for the World Bank, Sandia National Laboratories, the U.S. Department of State, NASA’s International Space Station program, and from 1997-2000 helped create a Russian non-governmental organization in Vladivostok to support on-going Siberian tiger and other endangered species conservation and education programs.

If there is a snowstorm, the show will be held Thursday, Jan. 18.
