LEWISTON — St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center will hold its 5th annual yard sale on Saturday, April 10, to raise money for its charitable efforts in Haiti.
The sale will be held from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Lepage Conference Center at 99 Campus Ave. in Lewiston. Yard sale items include clothing, housewares, books and glassware. Items will not be priced. Purchases are by donations only.
All proceeds will benefit a hospital in Fond des Blanc and the Rev. Marc Boisvert’s orphanage in Les Cayes, facilities supported by St. Mary’s for years. Its goal with this sale: $2,000.
“As difficult as the economy is here, it’s a hundred times worse in Haiti,” said Jill Hurd, a member of the committee that organized the yard sale. “As bad as it is here, we have things. We have soup kitchens, we have homeless shelters. They don’t have that. When there’s no food on the table, there’s no place to go get food.”
