LEWISTON — St. Mary’s HealthSteps has announced two new aquatic exercise classes: lap swim and aquatic fitness.
Lap swim allows participants to swim at their own pace in a 25-meter, eight-lane pool. This class is offered Mondays and Fridays from 6:05 to 7:30 a.m.; Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6:05 to 7 a.m.; and Wednesdays from 6:05 to 7 a.m.
Beginning Oct. 30, Mondays and Fridays change from 6:30 to 7:30 a.m. Classes on Tuesdays and Thursdays are available only until Oct. 29.
Aquatic fitness is a workout that uses the water for resistance and is easier on the body’s joints. St. Mary’s offers this class Mondays and Fridays from 6:30 to 7:15 a.m., and on Wednesdays from 6:05 to 6:55 a.m.
Aquatic fitness classes are a social group activity. No swimming skills are required but feeling comfortable in deep water and shallow water while wearing a flotation belt is important.
In addition to aquatic fitness and lap swimming, HealthSteps offers a wide range of other classes with the core membership fee.
