Dear Sun Spots: Thank you so much for all of the helpful information you continue to provide all of us! I’m hoping you can help me out.
I was wondering if you could find out if cemeteries provide a map to the public of who is buried there, and where they are in the cemetery?
There are two cemeteries that I would be interested in getting maps on if possible: St. John’s Cemetery in Brunswick and St. Peter’s Cemetery in Lewiston. My family has several family members and friends buried in each cemetery, and it would be interesting to see where they all are. Thanks again for all of your much appreciated work. – Michelle, Sabattus.
Answer: Sun Spots contacted St. Peter’s Cemetery, Switzerland Road, Lewiston, 782-8721, which notes it can provide maps of different sections. As you can imagine, there are several sectional maps because of the large number of people buried in the cemetery. Personnel can assist you in narrowing your search.
You can also receive a map of the cemetery. It is open 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday. It is closed on the weekends. Sun Spots also contacted St. John’s Parish, which says it does not have maps to give out.
However, you can visit the parish center, where office personnel will be able to assist you.
The office is located at 39 Pleasant St., Brunswick, 725-8756. It is open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. and is closed on the weekend.
