LEWISTON — The Coastal Maine Mysteries Nature Cycle is offering an opportunity to contribute to an art glass window to compliment the Healing Garden at the Patrick Dempsey Center for Cancer Hope & Healing. The free program will be led by master artisan, melanoma cancer survivor and Dempsey Center volunteer Nel Bernard.
The introductory meeting will be held from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 23, at the Dempsey Center, 29 Lowell St. Following sessions will take place at Maine Art Glass Studio, 51 Main St., Lisbon Falls, from 5 to 8 p.m.
Participants need no previous art experience and are encouraged to commit to the full term, but can engage for a single meeting or as often as their schedule and stamina allows. Every partner’s contribution will be recognized during a dedication ceremony and by a permanent plaque commemorating its completion. The program is estimated to take 12 meetings to complete.
Cancer survivors and their caregivers can learn art glass creation and assembly techniques, while receiving the interaction and support of peers on a relatable journey.
