PORTLAND, Maine (AP) — Former state Sen. Peter Mills has been named interim executive director of the Maine Turnpike Authority following the resignation of the former director amid questions about turnpike spending practices.
The Turnpike Authority board voted unanimously Thursday to appoint Mills to head the quasi-governmental agency, which oversees the 106-mile Maine Turnpike, which runs from Kittery to Augusta.
Paul Violette, who headed the agency for 23 years, resigned this month amid questions and growing criticism about turnpike finances and his leadership. The Legislature's Government Oversight Committee is investigating the $157,000 in gift certificates to upscale hotels and restaurants that Violette gave out to charitable organization and trade groups.
The turnpike authority board met for more than two hours in executive session Thursday morning before announcing its choice.

It does not matter what party
It does not matter what party he is from, why is it that another former Senator gets the cushy job? What does he know of operating this type of business? Citizens should start to demand better from their government. The whole board should be replaced. None of them gives much consideration to the actual operation of the pike. People on the board should know the basics of road construction and have a history of successfully operating a business.

Dan, do you actually believe what you post or are you just trying to get a rise out of people?
I highly doubt that LePage had anything to do with this. I am more apt to believe the appointment came from favors done for Democrats. If you remember, Mill never supported LePage.
