Maine tidal power celebrated Tuesday
EASTPORT, Maine (AP) — Gov. John Baldacci, Rep. Mike Michaud and the Coast Guard commander in northern New England are celebrating a Maine company's success in harnessing tidal power this week.
The gathering will be held Tuesday in Eastport, where Ocean Renewable Power Company last week announced its 60-kilowatt turbine-generator successfully produced grid-compatible electricity. That same unit will be used for a 60-day demonstration project for producing power for use by the Coast Guard's Eastport Station.
Ocean Renewable plans to install a 150-kilowatt system next year in the waters off Eastport. It will be connected to the Bangor Hydro grid.
Maine is already a leader for wind power generation. But Ocean Renewable sees big potential for tidal power in the coming decade.

This is so absurd, we spend more on education than almost every other state in the US and what do we have to show for it? Taxes higher than almost any other state in the US and kids who are flunking.
When are folks gonna figure this one out?
Buying flunking kids iPads and giving them free laptops isnt doing anything for their education. PASSING kids who FAIL isnt doing anything either. Loose the iPads and FLUNK the FLUNKEES and guess what? evenutually performace will improve. (three years in 4th grade should produce and very smart 4th grader)

No disrespect intended here, in my opinion your comments don't seem to encourage coming together to solve any problems. I'm not defending the governor's divisive tone by any means. I get a bit of the same tone from your comments just coming from the other side of the issue. Again I'm not trying to be disrespectful, I just think that one side has to come at this (or any) issue with a tone of respect. I've really haven't heard it from the governor so maybe it needs to come from the other side. Just my opinion.
