Stations sold


KENNEBUNK (AP) – Maine’s classical music radio network has been sold to a New Jersey company for $18.3 million. Mariner Broadcasting’ six stations, including flagship WBQQ-FM, also known as W-Bach, and Kennebunkport adult contemporary station WQEZ-FM will become property of Nassau Broadcasting Holdings of Princeton, N.J.

Also included are: WBQW-FM in Scarborough, WBQX-FM in Thomaston and WBQI-FM in Bar Harbor and WBYA-FM in Bangor.

Mariner Broadcasting employs 25 people. Its sale to Nassau Broadcasting, which owns or operates more than 16 radio stations in the Northeast, will close in early spring.

Although Mariner’s stations have been sold, Vitali said the company continues to operate Mariner Tower, with a goal to acquire 50 and 100 telecommunications towers in Maine.
